Five Things Not to Forget When You Go On Holiday

Few people dislike a holiday and we all appreciate a good break! I personally love the thrill of anticipation just before setting off for some R&R. With how stressful modern life can be nowadays whether at work, school or even at home, everyone deserves that annual vacation to enjoy some personal time. Being unprepared for such a trip could ruin all the prior effort and planning so we’ve helpfully compiled some important items not to forget on your trip.

The right vaccines
The last thing you want to happen when you’re away on your dream holiday is to become sick; in a foreign environment however with different foods, animals and insects it can be a very real possibility. The trip should recharge your batteries and leave you feeling revitalised – getting hospitalised in a foreign country does not help to achieve this aim and can also be additionally risky as staff will not have immediate access to your medical history. Before booking and leaving for your vacation, make sure that you check what, if any the suggested vaccines are for travelling to your chosen country and remember, prevention is better than cure!

Medication and first aid
Bring a first aid kit and stock up on your medication before your trip. Differing laws and regulations may mean that some prescription drugs easily available in the UK may not be accessible to you in other countries. Explaining which medication you need to get from a foreign pharmacist too may also be tricky and in addition to trying to break that language barrier, you could also have problems deciphering the labels and instructions. If you suffer from motion sickness too remember this prior to travelling and finally, trying out exotic food can be fun and shouldn’t be avoided but do try to make sure you have medication with you in case the food disagrees with you.

Bring sunglasses
Now for a fun one! If you protect your skin using a sunblock, protect your eyes by wearing sunglasses. As well as being fashionable these protect the wearer from damage caused by ultraviolet rays and sudden glare from the sun. You can purchase polaroid sunglasses that provide 100% protection from UV rays too ensuring the wearers eyes stay well protected whilst maintaining great visibility. The perfect pair of glasses can compliment any outfit at any time and you can find designs especially made to withstand tough conditions too if you’re a keen adventurer.

Secure your bag with a suitcase lock
This doesn’t need much explanation! Travelling on a plane separates you from your precious luggage which can and frequently does contain our most prized and private possessions. To make sure that your items are safe, invest in a good lock; combination locks are convenient but some can be easily opened so a lock and key option is more durable plus you can keep the key with you at all times in your pocket or carry-on luggage for additional safety.

Exchange currency
You can obtain this at your destination but it’s often a good idea to go with some on you in case there isn’t a cash machine and you need to get around. Airports have currency exchange kiosks where you can make an exchange; these also usually have reasonable exchange rates and save you the trouble of looking for a currency exchange when you’re abroad. Another positive with doing this is you can also manage your budget when away by only exchanging the amount of money you can afford – we can all sympathise that it’s very easy to overspend on holiday!

It really pays to be prepared even when you are simply planning on having a fun and relaxing trip. The above advice will hopefully help to make the most out of the time you have for yourself and/or your family. Relax and enjoy!

There’s are plenty of useful resources on sun protection online, if as mentioned above you’d like to give your eyes some additional protection from UV rays you can purchase polaroid sunglasses heree.
